Tsuki No Wa
Tsuki No Wa is a Japanese band formed in Tokyo in the late 1990s by Fuminosuke (vocals, guitar), Takumi Ito (tenor saxophone), Takuyuki Moriya (contrabass), later joined by Hiromitsu Shoji (sound modulation). They are known for their mix of jazz, soul, electroacoustic, and folk influences.
They released three full-length albums "Ninth Elegy" (2000), "真昼顔" (2001), and "Moon Beams" (2003). Their work has been re-evaluated in recent years, with "Ninth Elegy" was re-released by First-on-Vinyl in 2023, and "Moon Beams" by Mesh-key records in 2025. Their music is characterized by a lyrical and dreamy sound that evokes old memories, combining Fuminosuke's androgynous and soulful vocals with raw instrumental sounds and electroacoustic experiments.

真昼顔
Vision of midday face
Tsuki No Wa's second album, "真昼顔", released in 2001, differs from their other albums in that it is closer to a live performance, without elaborate editing or overdubbing. The band arranged and rehearsed the songs repeatedly with Amephone and Tetuzi Akiyama over a short summer period, and recorded the album in one take at a cafe, a small bar, and a spacious old practice room at the university, in Tokyo.
